Hike the Nearby Colorado Mountains

Stay Here, Hike There

One of the most common questions we get asked as a mountain resort year-round when guests stay in our cabins and yurts is: “Where’s the best place to hike nearby?”

So we asked Anna -an avid hiker and team member at our park – to compile a list of the Top 10 Best Places to Hike in the surrounding Rocky Mountains.

1. St. Mary's Glacier

Located just 10 minutes down the road from Lawson Adventure Park this is an easy 2.5 mile hike with beautiful views at the top!

St. Mary’s is by far one of the most popular places to hike in the region and can actually get fairly crowded some times of the year. In the winter, we offer Guided Snowshoeing up to the top and it’s a 2-4 hour excursion.

Glacier Fest 2021 was also held previously in August up at St. Mary’s and featured live music and food vendors!

2. Silver Dollar Lake and Murray Lake Trail

This trail is located right off Guanella Pass in Georgetown. This 4 mile hike will give you beautiful views of two different lakes!

3. Rutherford Trail

Located in Georgetown this is a perfect beginner hike lasting only 2 miles. This trail does run into a few other trails if you’re looking to make the hike longer!

4. Griffin Memorial

This is a 3.7 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Silver Plume, Colorado. This trail offers a lot of history and is a historic mule trail!
